GO Logic Community Involvement Leads Belfast Towards Net Zero
The City of Belfast, Maine recently installed a 122kW solar electric system on a capped landfill, previously the city dump. This will be one of the largest municipal solar installations in the state. The reuse of the landfill to generate 20% of the electricity used by the city is another demonstration of the forward thinking approach to the environment and sustainability by the mid-coast community.
GO Logic’s Matthew O’Malia sits on the City Energy Committee, and had the pleasure of working with the team, developing, planning and recommending the project to the City Council for approval. The life of the system is 40 years, with a 15-year payback, and Revision Energy of Liberty, Maine installed the solar panels last week. GO Logic is honored to consider Revision Energy a partner in the local sustainability movement driving Belfast, Maine to be a net zero town, as well as in many of our Passive House construction projects, working with Revision to bridge the energy gap to make our homes net zero as well.
