Hayfield House Passive House Certification
We are very pleased to announce our latest Passive House Certification, with the Passive House Institute, for the Hayfield House in Bolton, CT. This 2,100 square foot home designed for a family with three young children combines a blend of New England vernacular with a modern aesthetic in it’s design.
Passive House is a building energy performance standard developed in Germany that proposes to reduce energy use through a highly insulated building envelope, efficient use internal heat sources and heat recovery, as well as maximizing heat gain from the sun. In order to achieve Passive House Certification, stringent criteria must be met in the areas of space heating (or cooling) energy demand, primary energy demand, air tightness and comfort. Passive House Certification was achieved through the compact design of the structure, the use of triple-glazed south facing windows for passive solar gain, and highly insulated walls, ceiling and foundation. In tandem with a heat recovery ventilation system, this home will be healthy and comfortable throughout the lifespan of the building. GO Logic’s commitment to designing and constructing passive house standard buildings grows stronger with every project. We feel that creating a super-insulated building shell and creating an 80-90% reduction in energy use over the life of the building is the best, and only way, to build new buildings, for both cost and environmental reasons.
