“It’s a classic design refined through trial and error; it is Passivhaus; it is prefabricated; it is boxy but beautiful. It’s practically perfect.”
That’s TreeHugger design editor Lloyd Alter describing the GO Home. And while it’s always nice to get positive press, praise from this quarter is especially welcome. A prolific writer on sustainable architecture, planning, and construction (he also teaches sustainable design at the university level), Alter has both strong opinions and the technical background to support them.
Alter has also had direct experience in prefab construction, and he notes the benefits of GO Home’s standardized designs and production refinements, especially in minimizing surface area and thermal bridging between the interior and exterior of the building shell, which is crucial to achieving Passive House-level energy efficiency. He has equally kind words for GO Home’s aesthetics and space efficiency, calling our 1,600 square foot design “a model of flexibility and adaptability.”
